To travel from Bosnia-Herzegovina to Croatia by train is currently not possible. The last international train connection from Sarajevo to Zagreb was cancelled in 2016. Other international railway lines have been closed for several years. Therefore you have to travel a bus.

There are several bus connections available. To the north from of Sarajevo (8 hours, 25 EUR) and Banja Luka (3:20 hours, 15 EUR) to Zagreb. And to the south from Sarajevo (6:30 hours, 23 EUR) and Mostar (3:30 hours, 18 EUR) to Split and Dubrovnik.

Travel from Switzerland to Spain by train. There are three main travel routes available from Switzerland to Barcelona: via Paris, via Lyon and via Geneva. From Barcelona continue to your travel destination in Spain.

2b Travelling from Zagreb (Croatia) to Nova Gorica (Slovenia)

Travel from Croatia to Slovenia by train. Several types of saver fare tickets are available. You have to buy the train tickets at a railway station.

The most important railway line between Croatia and Slovenia is the main line from Zagreb to Ljubljana via the Dobova border crossing. The journey time from Zagreb to Ljubljana is 2:30 hours. You have at least two direct trains daily. The ticket fare is 9 EUR.

Other international railway connections run from Rijeka to Ljubljana (9 EUR) and from Pula to Ljubljana (19 EUR).

2c Travelling from Nova Gorica (Slovenia) to Gorizia (Italy)

Travel from Slovenia to Italy on the train route from Ljubljana (Slovenia) to Trieste (Italy).

There are at least two trains per day to cross the border. The journey time on the railway line Ljubljana to Trieste is 2:50 hours. The train ticket fare is 8 EUR. Buy the ticket at a train station.

It is also possible to cross the border at Gorica. But you have to include a bus to get from the Slovenian to the Italian train station within the town.

Travel from Marseille to Barcelona by direct AVE high-speed-train. The journey time is 4:30 hours. The train ticket fares start from 39 EUR.

The departure time in Marseille is 08:00. The arrival time in Barcelona is 12:30.

The railway stations are called "Marseille St Charles" and "Barcelona Sants".
