1a Travelling from Eisenstadt (Austria) to Munich (Germany)

From Austria to Germany you can travel cheaply by ICE and Railjet trains. ÖBB sells economy tickets ("Sparschiene") from 12 EUR. There are many train connections daily.

On longer distances, we recommend a Nightjet night train. These offer you comfortable overnight travel in a seating car, couchette car or sleeping car. Tickets for the Nightjet start at 29 EUR. In the sleeping car from just 69 EUR.
There are night train connections from Vienna, Innsbruck, Linz and Salzburg to Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin.

1b Travelling from Munich (Germany) to Paris (France)

To travel from Germany to France by train, use a route either via Cologne to Lille/Paris by Thalys train. Or from Frankfurt or Stuttgart via Saarbrücken/Strasbourg to Paris by TGV/ICE. There is also a direct train from Frankfurt in direction of Marseille. Please use the given booking links to find schedules and ticket prices. Prices are usually the same, but sometimes vary slightly.

If you want to use a night train, have a look at the Russian night train Moscow to Paris (enter in Berlin). A very nice experience and high quality, but does not run daily!

The Europe Special price of Deutsche Bahn (German railways) is available from EUR 39. As earlier you book, as cheaper the ticket prices are.

1c Travelling from Paris (France) to Irun (Spain)

To travel by train from France to Spain, use first one of the direct high-speed-trains from France (Paris) or southern France (Marseille) to Barcelona. There you change to your destination in Spain.

Another option is to cross the border at Irun/Hendaye and to continue from there to your destination in Spain. Some routes run via Latour de Carol.

1d Travelling from Irun (Spain) to Lisbon (Portugal)

There are only two rail links between Spain and Portugal: the night trains from Madrid and Irun to Lisbon and the Celta trains in the north from Vigo to Porto. There is no rail connection in the south, when travelling between Sevilla and Faro we recommend to take the direct bus instead.

New is the day train connection with changes between Madrid and Lisbon.

Train tickets are available online via our partner ACPRail or directly from RENFE. International tickets from Spain to Portugal are not available directly from CP (Portuguese Railways).

To travel from Austria to Switzerland by train, use one of the frequent train connections. The direct Railjet trains offer as well discount tickets. To travel by train from Switzerland to Spain, you have several routes you can use. Either from Switzerland via Paris, via Mulhouse and Lyon or Geneva to Barcelona. Please have a look at the booking links we offer, there the best options will show up and you find ticket prices and schedules.
From Barcelona continue to your destination. If it is not possible to book your ticket in one step from Switzerland, add a second ticket for Spain via Renfe.

2c Travelling from Barcelona (Spain) to Madrid (Spain)

The fastest way to travel from Barcelona to Madrid is by AVE high-speed-train of RENFE. The journey time is only 2,5 hours for the distance of 620 kilometres. Second class tickets are available from 40 EUR and first class tickets from 55 EUR. There are frequent connections available, at least one every hour. The departure station in Barcelona is called "Barcelona Sants". The arrival station in Madrid is called "Madrid Atocha".

2d Travelling from Madrid (Spain) to Lisbon (Portugal)

To travel by train from Madrid to Lisbon, make use of the direct "Lusitania" night train. It is the most comfortable way to travel. Tickets are available from EUR 25. The journey time is about 10 hours. Tickets are available at the given booking links.
