To travel by train from Berlin in Germany to Kaliningrad in Russia you can either use one of the direct night trains from Germany to Moscow. Or you split your trip into two with a change in Warsaw (Poland). Optional as well via Ukraine to avoid Belarus: from Northern Germany via Warsaw and the Ukraine. From Southern Germany via Slovakia and the Ukraine.

Tow direct long-distance night train connect Germany with Russia.
One train is coming from Paris with stops in Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Frankfurt and Berlin. The second starts from Berlin. Both trains run via Warsaw, Brest and Minsk to Moscow - and return. They do not run daily.

3B Travelling from Bratislava (Slovakia) to Kiev (Ukraine)
If you are travelling from Slovakia to Ukraine by train, buy your ticket at a train station. There are no online tickets available. However it is possible to buy a ticket to Chop only and then use an online ticket of Ukrainian Railways to continue your trip.

There are two daily trains via the border crossing Cierna nad Tisou/Chop. One of these trains conveys through sleeping cars from Bratislava and Prague to Lviv and Kyiv.
