1a Travelling from Aalborg (Denmark) to Stockholm (Sweden)

To buy a train ticket from Denmark to Sweden, have a look at the booking links. Depending on where you start in Denmark, you first have to buy a ticket from your starting place to Copenhagen. From Copenhagen, buy a second train ticket to your destination in Sweden.

There are frequent train connections from everywhere in Denmark to Copenhagen. Copenhagen is the main hub to continue to Sweden and Scandinavia in general. There are direct trains going from Copenhagen to Gothenburg and Stockholm.
Otherwise first travel via the Öresund Bridge (train runs every 20 minutes) to Malmö (Sweden), from where you continue to your destination in Sweden.

1b Travelling from Stockholm (Sweden) to Helsinki (Finland)

To travel by ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki, book a direct overnight ferry. The daily departure time in Stockholm is in the late afternoon. The arrival in Helsinki in the morning.

If you want to travel by a cheaper ferry or during the day (not overnight), you have to take a ferry route from Stockholm to Turku.

The journey time is about 17 hours. The ticket prices depends on the day you travel. Use the given booking links to find an exact ticket price and the schedule.

The journey time for the 443 kilometres between Finland and Russia is about 3.5 hours. Train tickets are available from Euro 70 in 2nd class. There are at least three connections per day.

1d Travelling from Saint Petersburg (Russia) to Dimitrovgrad (Russia)

To travel in Russia by train, buy your ticket online via one of the given booking links. There you find exact schedules and ticket prices. The price depends on the type of train and the time you travel and can vary a lot. For most trains you can chose your seat if you book online. And it is the easiest way if you do not speak the Russian language. Good to know: in Russia you will find very interesting long-distance trains, travelling overnight. They usually offer: 1st class sleeper with 2-berth compartments, 2nd class Kupé with 4-berth compartments and 3rd class Platskartny with open-plan dormitory cars.

2a Travelling from Aalborg (Denmark) to Berlin (Germany)

To travel from Denmark to Germany by train, use one of the daily connections which usually runs via Hamburg. Please use the following booking links to find schedules and ticket prices. The "Europe Special" price of Deutsche Bahn is available from EUR 39. As earlier you book, as cheaper the prices are.

If you want to include a night train, there is currently only one IC train travelling overnight from Copenhagen (Denmark) to Hamburg (Germany). In 2021 a new line will open from Stockholm via Copenhagen to Hamburg and Berlin.

2b Travelling from Berlin (Germany) to Moscow (Russia)

Two direct night trains connect Berlin with Moscow. The journey time is 24 hours. You can buy train tickets from 160 EUR. The price depends on your travel date and the category you choose. You can find the exact timetable and ticket prices via the given booking links.

Three times a week you can travel on these direct train connections. One night train comes from Paris (EN453 Transeuropean Express) with a stop in Berlin. From Berlin there is a direct train EN 441/14M Strizh.

If you want to avoid the trip through Belarus, travel from Berlin to Warsaw and from there by night train to Kiev. In Kiev you take the direct train to Moscow.
