Hi,

I'm planning my Interrail trip for 2011 and I'll be staying in the High Tatras for a few days. After that I want to continue on to Warsaw, Poland. Are there any day train connections? I'm not afraid of taking local trains but an Intercity is of course preferred.

Hi!

There is no direct train from Kosice to Warszawa.

What I can offer is to take the only direct train Kosice 1550 - 2251 Krakow. From there you would still have an overnight connection to Warszawa, albeit with an early arrival at around 0500. But Krakow is a really nice city as well, so maybe you want to stay there for one day.

Another option would be to change your whole itinerary a bit...where are you before Kosice and where do you want to go after Warszawa?

I will probably go via Krakow then, since I'll be coming out of Southern Europe and want to visit the Tatras for some relaxation and then Poland after that. After Poland I will go back to Germany and finally Holland where I live.

This bit was kind of the missing link in my itinerary. 1 train per day is enough for me in that case. :)

Edit: I can't find the direct connection on [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] .. you sure it's there? I'm going this July/August.

NO more trains along this route!
There is an easy bus:
some now even direct-from POPRAD via Zakopane into Krakow. You could switch to PKP trains in Zak, but thats not worth it if you have passdays to use.
hourly local SAD buses to BORDER=ZDIAR from the AS=autobus Station in Poprad, also stop in the tatra at Stary Smokovec, end at border (it is all Schengen now-no more checks)-at other side wait for frequent PL minibus to Zak (you should have zloty for it)-and from Zak there are 2 express coaches ev. hour to Krakow-cheaper and much faster as train. Total cost less as 10€. total time: maybe 4 hrs if lucky, 5 very well doable.
