Budapest-Keleti pu Dep: 0600
Györ Dep: 0727
Wien Westbahnhof Arr: 0858

UPDATE: https://rail.cc/en/sofia-vienna-train/f7096

single sleeper
Rail pass fare: EUR 91
Standard fare: EUR ??

double sleeper
Rail pass fare: EUR 39
Standard fare: EUR ??

triple sleeper
Rail pass fare: EUR 26
Standard fare: EUR ??

:!: If the train is delayed, the sleeper carriage from Sofia sometimes runs to Budapest only where you would have to change to another train to Vienna.

 As all cabins of this single sleeper carriage from Sofia are the same type (all with three beds), the number of persons per cabin depends on how much money you pay as supplement (see above). You can always ask the staff at the wagon for a single person compartment. If there is a free cabin, you will get an upgrade for small money.

Why isn't it possible to find the timetable of this train in the direction Sofia-Wien?

I guess it (1 carriage) operates together with the Istanbul-Beograd nighttrain between Sofia and Beograd and with the Beograd-Wien nighttrain between Beograd and Wien?

Sofia 11:40
Beograd (a.) 19:21
Beograd (d.) 21:25
Wien 08:58

Could anybody confirm me if this is correct?

Thanx!

Yeah thats right, im not sure why its not showing the through carriage. You should be able to buy a sleeper all the way through in Sofia. If things have changed it shouldnt be too much trouble to buy a couchette/sleeper on the train at Belgrade should you need to change. Its incredibly unlikley that you will be able to buy a reservation from Belgrade to Vienna in Sofia

Thank you for your answer :D

I know, 2years ago, it was possible to buy a reservation for the Wien-Beograd here in Belgium. I don't know if it is still possible know and if it is still possible, to buy one for Wien-Sofia, but I'll give it a try. ;) I guess Sofia-Wien wouldn't be possible to buy the reservation in advance (here in Belgium or even Germany) if the train isn't even metionned in the international timetable :|

It could be possible to get the reservations in Belgium or Germany if you know the exact train numbers as they change throughout the journey of the through sleeper (altough the 347 is mentioned being used for international bookings in the Thomas Cook European Rail Timetable).

:arr: 347

Wien West dep: 1850
Budapest Keleti arr: 2219

:arr: 341

Budapest Keleti dep: 2300
Belgrad arr: 0631

:arr: 491

Belgrad dep: 0750
Sofia arr: 1740

The through carriage Wien - Sofia is supposed to be a BDZ sleeper.

Other than the possibility of changing trains in Budapest do you have to change trains/get off in Belgrade as the train changes number from 491 to 341?

Hi.

On the direct train Sofia-Vienna you do not have to change.
The change of number has the reason as there is only one wagon going this direct way. And this wagon is attached on different trains during this trip - but you stay all the time in the same wagon.

Hey

There seems to be another day train running from Belgrade to Budapest.. Train is called D 342 and basically starts at 10:00 from Belgrade and reaches Budapest at 17:43.
It needs supplement too.. Does anyone know how much that's for? I'm hoping it would be slightly cheaper than the night train.

Hi.
The Belgrade - Budapest one you mentioned should be free of supplements - at least I didn't pay anything the last time using it.
If there is a supplement, then for the part in Hungary with a maximum of EUR 2,50.

Hi,

First of all, thanks to the mods for running this great forum . I'm planning a 3 week trip in september and this forum made it a lot easier.

I'm planning on taking this train to get from Sofia to Budapest. When it stops for 2 hours in Belgrado will we be able to get of the train to get some air, stretch our legs and go eat something? If this is possible, is there a chance our places are taken when we return?

Tnx in advance

Hi.

Often the train is in delay in Belgrade - so you won't have these two hours. But it is possible to leave the train. Just ask the staff and tell that you are outside - they can give you a sign to come in again. Or say that you leave for some food and you are back in your cabin at departure.

It is often very relaxing - and the station of Belgrade isn't very big... something about two platforms for the international trains. Easy to have everything under control. :)

Peter :)
