RENFE SPAIN PASS
The Renfe Spain Pass is a rail pass valid for travel with all long-distance trains of Spanish railway RENFE. The pass is available for 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 journeys within one month. Seat reservations are compulsory and are included in the price. The pass is an interesting alternative to the Interrail One Country Pass.
Different to an Interrail/Eurail Pass where you can make as many journeys as you want on one travel day, the Renfe Spain Pass offers a certain number of journeys. A journey is one trip with a long distance train from A to B without changing trains. In both the city of departure and arrival you can also use suburban trains (Cercanias/Rodalies) within three hours prior to departure and after arrival.
The Renfe Spain Pass is valid only in high speed trains (AVE), long distance trains (Larga Distancia) and regional trains (Media Distancia). Not valid on night trains (Trenhotel). Local trains (Cercanias/Rodalies) can be used free of charge before and after a trip with a long distance train.
Seat reservations can be made online or at a ticket desk at a station in Spain. They are free of charge and can be exchanged and returned up before the departure of the booked train. If you book a seat reservation for a long distance train, one journey of the pass is used, but can be reimbursed if you change plans and return the reservation. For trips with local trains you need a separate ticket to pass the station gates. These tickets are available locally at the stations.
