Fragrance, Touch and Apothecary Garden in the Botanical Garden Leipzig

Duft- und Tastgarten sowie Apothekergarten im Botanischen Garten Leipzig

Close together and really going one to the other are the Peace Park (Friedenspark), the Botanic Garden including Apothecary Garden(Apothekergarten) and the Fragrance and Touch Garden (Duft- und Tastgarten). The Botanical Garden of the University of Leipzig today consists of the actual botanical garden, an Apothecary garden, a Fragrance and Touch Garden and a butterfly house. The Apothecary Garden and the Fragrance and Touch garden I particularly liked, even though they are quite small. *** Accessibility of the Botanical Garden *** Tram: 15 (Ostplatz) 2, 16 Johannisallee) *** Opening times of the Botanical Garden *** • November to February daily 09:00 - 16:00h • March, April, October daily 09:00 - 18:00h • May to September daily 09:00 - 20:00h Note: applies only to the garden area, not the houses. *** Entrance fee *** The gardens are free. Only for the glasshouses (greenhouses) a fee has to be paid.

I failed the Penguins. :( So the tour is as follows (also marked with signs): 01 - Cash and visitor entrance with Visitor 02 - the summer residence of llama Horst and alpaca Harry 03 - aquarium / terrarium, Baikal seals 07 - Bird aviaries (left of the path) + 08 - Apiary (right of way) 13 - coatis plant 14 - Free Flight Aviary 15 - Temple elephant Ganesha Mandir (Note: take care that you continue the trail!) 19 - Bear Castle 20 - Australian area 21 - ape enclosure Pongoland research camp, Streichelkral 22 - Asian game reserve 23 - Okapi Forest 26 - savannah lion Simba Makasi (Note: don't miss anything. Of course I realize that an investment must be received in this dimension and that the maintenance and care of animals and the maintenance of the system results in enormous costs. Glad you pay one Euro more if it's all neat and well maintained. Overall, I was surprised positively by the zoo. The area is very spacious and the park is designed very attractively. The catering facilities look very inviting (even we have not used it). I will - if there is an opportunity - come back. On the one hand, because I have not seen everything, on the other hand because always new things are created. So it makes sense to visit the zoo in long time intervals. What I will not use, is the evening ticket. Because one hours is not enough time. We are not the absolute zoo fans - but stayed in total 2 1/2 hours in the zoo. I think a visit is worth as: * easy access (central location, good infrastructure) * prices - well ... but as I said ... building materials, energy, food for the animals - it just has to be paid for all * the zoo make a good impression (spacious, well designed, maintained) * catering - there are several dining options available, and all are adapted to the external environment and an attractive design * others - the gift shop has a comprehensive supply and toilets are available in the park in several places
