Coffee house tradition - Café Grundmann

Kaffeehaustradition - Café Grundmann

At one of our stays in Leipzig, we made a stop in the cafe: OOO GRUNDMANN OOO The Cafe Grundmann is today the only one in central Germany preserved in the Art Deco-style ("Wiener Café"). It was opened in 1919. The still existing wall paneling, Thonet chairs, coat racks and corner seats are from 1930. Renovated in 1998 - 2000. OOO Opening times OOO Monday to Friday from 08.00, Saturday and Sunday from 09.00 h Monday to Saturday to 01.00, Sundays until 22.00 h OOO Extract from the menu card OOO [the following text is ranslated by Google - correction soon] * Example 1 - all of which will be offered in * Here there is still the "little black dress" instead of espresso and the "Verlängerter" is also available. Viennese coffee house tradition also. And of course, typical pastries Leipzig - The Leipzig lark! * Example 2 - Our consumption * Leipziger Lerche = 1.90 EUR Little Black = 1,70 EUR Extended = 1.90 EUR Juice spritzer 0.2 l = 2,10 EUR Large coffee = 2,90 EUR Carafe of tap water = 3.30 EUR Total: 13,80 EUR * Example 3 - LUNCH TIME - time to eat is an offer valid from Monday to Friday from 11.00 - 15.00 *. You pay the amount of the order period, e.g. You place your order at 11.14 clock, then you pay only DM 11.14. Now with Euro Conversion: DM 11:14 comply € 5.70 + + + My Opinion + + + As befits a "real" coffee, so is the reason man with Thonet chairs (ie chairs, these classic coffee house) and this little marble tables is provided. The waiter is here - as befits a "real" coffee is - another "Waiter." The coffeehouse is an institution. And "Waiter" seems to have always been part of it. And "Waiter" is shown - as is usual for coffee houses - as a little grumpy. No, not bad not unfriendly, but ... well, how shall I describe it? I want it - without kicking someone too close - really refer to sometimes as "endearingly grumpy." Anyone who has experienced it before, who knows what I mean. I like it and I'm longing for a return visit ...

Coffee house tradition - Kaffeehaus Riquet

Kaffeehaustradition - Kaffeehaus Riquet

Several times I was in Leipzig for a short stay, as well in the Kaffeehaus Riquet (Coffee house). A key advantage of this coffee house is that it is located near the train station (on the way from the station to the city center). It is a corner building (at the corner of Reichsstraße / Schuhmachergässchen) and the outside is quite striking, as it is decorated with elephant heads. The house was built in 1908/1909. The coffee house is divided into the "Stadtcafe" (ground floor) and the "Wiener Cafe" (on the first floor). I had always been a guest on the first floor. OOO opening times OOO 09.00 to 20.00 h

Coffee house tradition - Café Kandler

Kaffeehaustradition - Café Kandler

One of our short stays in Leipzig, which included the visit to the coffee house in the ... OOO KANDLER OOO The Café Kandler is centrally located in the inner city and is therefore perfect for a break. OOO opening times OOO Open daily 10.00 to 20.00 h OOO Our consumption OOO I would like to particularly recommend the "Leipziger Räbchen". Not realy cheap (I do not remember the price - I thing it was about EUR 6), but it tastes really good and above all ... they are not offered elsewhere, you do not get them in every bakery. Leipzig Räbchen are pitted plums, in which the damage caused by the remote stone cavity is filled with marzipan. The whole is then dipped in batter and fried in fat.

Coffee house tradition - Café Maître

Kaffeehaustradition - Café Maître

During one of our Leipzig stays we made a stop at: CAFÉ MAÎTRE Café in art nouveau style. It was opened in 1904 In 2011, it was reopened after extensive renovation in original beauty. As it is the case in a "real" coffee house, the Maître has this little marble tables and matching chairs. The inside offers French flair and the staff fits 100% to.
