Dear all,
Next summer (I like to plan ahead, haha), I'm thinking of taking the train from Bucharest to Istanbul. Is this line fully operational again? Or would I still need to take that bus connection?

Currently by bus; summer 2016 is way too far ahead for any definitive information.
EDIT: And if the train runs again to Istanbul, then it will be to Ispartakule station only which is a long way from the city centre.

No, international trains do not call at Ispartakule. If they called, it would be a fast way to get into city center by a bus transfer. Currently they call at Çerkezköy and Halkalı.

Indeed, trains still can go only as far as Halkali station; all updated information about the night trains to Istanbul is here: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/[/ux] :)
