1a Travelling from Madrid (Spain) to Barcelona (Spain)

To travel from Madrid to Barcelona by train, you will use an AVE high-speed-train of RENFE. The journey time is only 2,5 hours for the distance of 620 kilometres. Second class tickets are available from 40 EUR and first class tickets from 55 EUR. There are frequent connections available, at least every hour. The departure station in Madrid is called "Madrid Atocha". The arrival station in Barcelona is called "Barcelona Sants".

1b Travelling from Barcelona (Spain) to Marseille (France)

Travel from Barcelona to Marseille by direct AVE high-speed-train. The journey time is 4:20 hours. The train ticket fares start from 39 EUR.

The departure time in Barcelona is 16:30. The arrival time in Marseille is 20:50.

The railway stations are called "Barcelona Sants" and "Marseille St Charles".

There are as well other train connections available using Intercity and regional trains in Spain and in France. Also a scenic detour via Latour de Carol is possible including the "Petit Train Jaune".

2b Travelling from San Sebastián (Spain) to Marseille (France)

To travel by train from Spain to France, use one of the direct high-speed-trains from Barcelona to Paris and southern France. First you travel in Spain to Barcelona. There you change to the trains to France.

Another option is to cross the border at Irun/Hendaye and to continue from there to your destination in France. In exceptional cases, your itinerary is via Latour de Carol.
