Hi.
There is a calculator on the website, which you can use: https://rail.cc/en/overall-costs

To give you a short overview like I always calculate:
3 EUR train supplements
8 EUR food
20 EUR hostel
4 EUR all the rest

So in average: 35 EUR per day.

Peter :)

im doing the global one. and im taking £1000 ...that should be enough shouldnt it... i mean i might even be able to take an extra £100 or £200.. but yeah £1000 is my definate price

That's about €1500. Should be enough I think, even if that's including the price of your ticket. It depends a bit on if you're going to camp, cook on your own stove etc. Then it's cheaper than when you're gonna sleep in youth hostels and have dinner in the city...

well ive got like £500 ish set aside for...

£300 inter rail ticket

£200 for bits and bobs rucksacks, clothes, shoes etc

so yeah.... and were gonna be staying in hostel threw out...just think itll be more easier

also whilst im talking about hostels. im kinda abit confused with em

cause their 2 of us that are going, so do we stick to the double sleep rooms, cause if im right if we say, go for the 6 sleep one...me and my mate have to pay for the other 4 beds...cause i think they dont let em out do they...if u get me...

but then with the mixed dorms...would we be ok jus to book for a 4 bed one?? ummmm

If you went for a four-bed private room, then you would have to buy all four beds.

But, as far as I know, you only pay for the beds you use in a dorm, but you aren't guaranteed the dorm to yourself.

I could be wrong, though. I haven't been interrailing yet, so if what I said isn't right I'm sure someone will correct me!

well ive seen like, a hostel in france which says...

4/6/12 mixed dorm are kinda the 2nd cheapest way of sleeping. so that mixxed dorm basically means. that up to that number of people can sleep in that one dorm, right????

so even though theirs gonna be 2 of us...then say were in a 6 mixed dorm then the hostel will just fill up the beds right? basically were not gonna have to pay for the other remaining beds are we, cause we havnt book the room. so to speak, jus the 2 beds....and we share showers yeah?

were as with double bed private thats like can sleep 2 people right, but in 1 double bed...again sharing showers

in that case. if ive got it right... :o god help me! lol going for the mixed dorm would be our best bet really wouldnt it???

sorry about all the dumbness in my questions lol...i blame the blonde :o :os but do appreciate your help! :)

Don't worry about it! :)

Glad that's cleared up.

I'm going in a group of six myself, so I suppose that means that we can book up a whole dorm to ourselves, which isn't too bad.

Hey there,

Mixed dorm means men and women.

Some places you have to pay for all the beds in the room but, more usually, you pay for your bed and you will have strangers in the other beds. It's a great way to meet people: and if you don't have a good time with them it's no hassle because you or they will be moving on very soon anyway.

I allow 14 GBP for my accommodation per night and 20 GBP a day for everything alse and I always have money left at the end of my trip. Better to have too much money when you go than too little.

I've interrailed several times and I'll be going again next year: there are always other places to visit.

Have a great trip.

if you want to find the cheap hostels, you have to travel in Eastern Europe or simply avoid the big European cities. go somewhere outside of them at night to sleep there... as well you will get only dormitories for low prices. :)
the difference between Youth hostels and Hostels is that Youth Hostels are official ones done by the official Youth Hostel Federation and the Hostels are done by persons done by there own to earn their money. :)
