Seems that most of the countries I want to visit are quite expensive. When I travel in the USA I usually eat in McDonald's as a hamburger in the middle of New York City costs the same as one in rural Texas...$1. How much does a hamburger cost in Germany, BeNeLux, Switzerland, France...

I recommend to have a small camping-stove with you, as you safe a lot of money cooking your own noddles with some tomato...
Often the hostels offer a kitchen.

I personally try to eat more interesting local food when I travel, but I won't moralise :)

I woud recommend to google MC Donalds Gutscheine before or during your trip in Germany. If you have luck you can get Mc Donalds Coupons for some German stores. You can print them out or also ask in the stores. You can get then 2 BigMacs/Mc Chicken/Chickennuggets for the price of one! Or if you buy a Big Mac Meal you get a second Big Mac for free. Burger King and Subway have sometimes coupons too.
