Hey guys,
I would like to go hiking in Italy, preferably in Tuscany. Can you recommend any hiking routes that are easy to reach via train? It would be great if I did not have to take a bus to get to the starting point.

I do not have experience with hiking in Tuscany, but maybe the information is helpful for you.

Hi and welcome to railcc!
As Pete already mentioned, Aulla or San Stefano di Magra would be interesting options to start hiking on the Via Francigena. Both are close to La Spezia and the Cinque Terre: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/de/cinque-terre/[/ux]
Depending on where you want to go (and the weather conditions) you could go to Siena as well which is also on the Via Francigena.
Maybe also have a look at [ux]http://openrailwaymap.org/[/ux] where you can find all operational (and other) lines. Just enter "Aulla" or "Siena" in the search box and the have a look around the area. Stations are marked in blue, operational (conventional) lines are marked in orange and yellow (high speed lines are red).
Since tickets for regional trains are quite cheap in Italy you can spontaneously decide where to start your trip while you are in Italy. Simply buy train tickets for regional trains locally at the stations (either at a ticket machine, ticket office or at a nearby bar/tabaccheria.
