Hi,
I'm searching for the best way for me to travel from Greece to Belgium with my dog.
Here in Greece for work and i recently adopted a dog. My plan was to fly but my departure date is much more earlier than the requirment period for the dog to be able to fly.
What is the best route to take and is my dog able to travel with me by train through every border?

Hi Eliza.
Concerning border crossing with a dog I can't give you details. But I think there is a kind of EU vaccination card for dogs available which should fit.

Concerning your route. The easiest way is as follows:

Departure station via Athens to Patras: https://rail.cc/en/blog/athens-patras
Read info for OSE: http://www.trainose.gr/en/passenger-activity/passenger-services/μεταφορά-συνοδευόμενων-ζώων/

Patras to Venice by ferry: Minoan Lines or Anek Lines, both available to compare on https://rail.shop/directferries
Minoan definitely transport dogs. But they are not allowed in cabins.

Now different options. Easiest one is: https://rail.cc/en/blog/thello-paris-milan-venice
Thello night train Venice to Paris:
but you have to book your own cabin: https://www.thello.com/en/paris-venice/pets/

Then Paris to Brussels by Thalys train: https://rail.shop/omio
Read: https://www.thalys.com/be/en/info-services/travelling-with-pets

Of course other routes are possible as well.

Peter :)
