I am going UK-Belgium-Germany-Czech Rep-Austria-Hungary-Croatia-Slovenia-Italy-France and back to UK. will I have a problem at any of these countries. Do any bag checks occur at all?

Hi

I carried a thing, which was essentially a bottle opener with other bits on it, between 7 countries recently. I was not searched anywhere but in Holland I did see someone in trouble for having something with a very short blade on it. The law is likely to be different in each of the countries you will visit and if your bladed tool looks more like a knife than a tool you may well have some explaining to do or find yourself in trouble. I finally ditched mine, which cost only a quid, in an airport before departure. I'd checked-in my rucksack and had a couple of bottles of beer to finish before my flight and preferred to chuck the bottle opener in the bin rather than put it in the dodgy items box at airport security, thereby making myself look suspicious.

Have a good trip.
