Hello

I am planning to travel to Barcelona and Parma this spring and between those two cities. I found a ferry between genoa-barcelona and a night train between milano/barcelona. I live in sweden, but I can easy start from copenhagen. I want as few as possible in the middle of the night transfers, changing at 3 in the morning kinda ruins the idea of sleeping on the train and save on hotel idea.

I am undecided on what city to visit first, or even if to make one trip to barcelona and back home, or both at same time. I'm guessing it'll be cheaper to do both at once? I'll be in Barcelona for 2-3 days, and a bit longer in Parma (cuz my bf plays for fc parma).

Any tips on traveling alone is helpful too, are there for example women only compartments on the routes I named, or would it be better to buy a single-compartment at higher price?

Thanks for any help,
Melly

I recommend you to travel by night train from Koebenhavn via Switzerland (Basel) to Italy ... for the night train connections have a look at this topic: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route

for more information about the night train Italy to Barcelona: https://rail.cc/en/interrail/milan-to-barcelona

and for ferries which are discounted with Interrail: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-ferry

you can always ask for a women only compartment in night trains. this is normally available without any problems and surcharges !!
have fun, Peter :)
