Hi, I am thinking of buying an InterRail pass for a trip from the Uk to Bucharest next year but whenever I try to get an idea of prices with the pass I cannot see the InterRail pass on the scroll down pass menu. I see lots of other discount passes but not InterRail. I have tried numerous train companies but to no avail. The idea of an InterRail pass appeals to me but I find it all so confusing. I am new to train travel. Thanks.

Hi.
I'm not sure if I understand your question right.
You want to travel from the UK to Bucharest by Interrail. You can also do it by normal train tickets.
If you want to include detours or additional stops, travel back home as well by train, Interrail might be the best choice.
Here we have a first timer guide: https://rail.cc/en/first-time-interrail
And a how to: https://rail.cc/en/how-to-interrail

On your trip from the UK to Bucharest you will meet these trains. For some an additional reservation fee is mandatory.

Different routes are available. I show you an example bellow.

UK to London and on to Brussels:
In the UK you travel for free to London with your "Outbound travel day of your Interrail pass". Continue the same day from London to Brussels.
You will use on London to Brussels an Eurostar train for which you need a reservation. It is EUR 30 in 2nd class: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-train-reservation/united-kingdom/uk

Brussels to Cologne: free with an ICE train of Deutsche Bahn.

Cologne to Vienna: also free with an ICE and Railjet train.

Vienna via Budapest to Bucharest:
you can travel for free by Railjet train from Vienna to Budapest.
Either from Vienna of from Budapest to Bucharest there are overnight trains.

Vienna-Bucharest: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/vienna-bucharest-en-347/50
Budapest-Bucharest: from EUR 3 reservation fee. But I recommend a couchette from EUR 16: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/budapest-bucharest-en-473/120

To summarize:
for your trip from the UK to Bucharest you need a reservation for the Eurostar (EUR 30) and fro the night train to Bucharest (from EUR 3).
On your way back you could include Poland (Krakow), Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam.... everything is possible. :)

Peter :)
