Hi,
we're planning to go interrailing for 22 days in June and would like to visit the following:
Starting Manchester (we don't mind flying to start)
Istanbul
Krakow
Athens
Rome
Dubrovnik
Mostar

Any suggestions of a route?

Thanks for your help!
Sophie

I think the best way could be like this:

fly to Rome
by night train via Venice and Zagreb to Mostar
from there by train to Ploce and from there by bus to Dubrovnic (or directly by bus from Mostar to Dubrovnic)
back by bus to Ploce
then by train via Zagreb, Beograd, Sofia to Athens
Athens to Istanbul: https://rail.cc/en/athens-istanbul-budapest-train/f719
Istanbul to Krakow and fly back home
a lot of travel ... but hard to find the best way... ;)
have a look on this website to find train connections: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
and keep in mind the night trains: https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train

and I think Ryanair is flying from Manchester to Rome and then back to the UK from Krakow.

Ok, id prob start in Krakow as I think you can fly there pretty cheap, then head down to Budapest, across to Zagreb and then down to Split, where the train finishes. Get on a bus, go to Dubrovnik, bus it to Mostar (and Sarajevo, cool city) and then to Sofia. From there you can get down to Istanbul, then to Athens via Thessaloniki, then Boat across to Italy. Its quite a lot to do in 22 days...
