Interrail: guarantee for reservations ?

So the global pass is booked and paid for. Now the issue is with reservations.
When booking through the system this site uses, does it guarantee you a seat/sleeper/whatever on the train for the specified day?
If you specify a particular journey (train # etc) does it ensure you have a seat on that train?
Also, if the train is not direct, does the reservation give you a seat on all the connecting trains (eg. from Paris to Munich, you may have to chg at Stuttgart, does the reservation give you a seat on the stuttgart to munich train).

I just need this confirmed as it seems quite expensive to reserve a seat (£17+) and I don't want to have to pay more when I arrive at the station, or arrive to find out that this reservation isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Cheers for your help. I'm sure this question has been asked and answered a million and 1 times, but it helps for peace of mind to write it out and ask myself.
