Hey all,

3 of my friends and I will be doing our first interrail trip this summer. We are departing from Turkey and the countries we'll be visiting are : Greece, Italy, France, Holland, Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary (or/and Croatia). We plan to return to Istanbul after this, preferably by train because money is kind of tight.

So, 1st question : Can we fit this in 22 days and not be too miserable? :)
2nd question : How much time would it take us to go back to Istanbul from, say, Budapest if we traveled by train, as non-stop as possible? (considering we have to go back through Greece because Bulgaria asks for an additional visa and I don't think we'll get that).

Thanks.

hej ... :)

here is my personal experience... you will need a lot of time for your way from Istanbul to Greece and then by ferry to Italy... let's say around 3 days if you don't stop anywhere. you have to calculate delays on the Greece railway system. then by ferry from Patras to Italy you need an other day. but it is worth and you meet a lot of other travellers. :)
then in Central-Europe you have good rail connections and you can do this in 22 days.

thing about it to use sometimes the CNL (City Night Line trains): https://rail.cc/en/night-train/germany/de

for example from Amsterdam to Prague ... but a stop in Berlin is also very nice (but I think then you don't have enough travel days).

when travelling back to Istanbul, you can do it via Vienna and Budapest... if you want to visit the Croatian beaches, you might lose to much days...?!?

but have a look at this topic: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
there you can plan your travels and see how much time you will need from city to city... :)

as well have a look at the topics of the single countries. there you will find other night trains.

have fun, Peter :)
