InterRail and Eurail together with a non-European partner

hi

Im planing to take my new zealand partner to europe and we would like to travel by train. As im citicen of Finland i can use interrail but he as a kiwi cant. It would be really great if you could tell me can we use the same trains and travel together like we would if we both had the same tickets.
