Interrail age limits and purchasing deadlines
Frederico Correia @ 26-05-2008 13:29
me and my girlfriend would like to go on an interrail trip this August, but we don't know if we can purchase the global pass tickets since we are both 28 years old.
Can we buy the tickets in June or July, if we want to travel in August, or do we have to buy them earlier?
We live in Portugal but we would like to pass spain and go straight to France. Do these tickets allow us to do that?
Thank you very much.

Hi Frederico ...
if you buy your InterRail pass via https://rail.shop/interrail it will arrive at your home within 2-3 working days ... but always plan a week for delivery - it won't be needed - but you never know if your postman is in strike or something else. so you won't get in panic. 🙂
If you start in August, but it in the middle or at the end of July, depending on when you start in August.
If you are older than 26 years (which it is in your case) you can buy InterRail Passes, but you have to select the version ADULT.
When buying a Global InterRail Pass, you can travel in every European country (a list is on https://rail.cc/en/interrail-global-pass). Only in your country of residence (=Portugal) you will only get a discount of 50% on normal train tickets.
So for you it is no problem to travel for free in Spain. But pay attention: for some super-fast-trains you have to pay extra supplements... have a look here at the forum at the country topics.
To find train schedules without supplements: https://rail.cc/en/search-interrail-route
And for night trains you have to pay as well a supplement. But you have a bed for a night and you save the hostel! 🙂
Details listed as well here at the forum in the country topics.
