Hello, was wondering how the global pass works for inter city travel?

Just day to day getting around the cities I'll be visiting taking short trips on the overground and underground train services.

Do seats still have to be reserved with a supplement or can you just jump on the trains? Also, do they have ticket barriers in most stations, similar to the ones on the London Underground?

hi Adam...

subways are not included in the InterRail ticket, as InterRail is only a rail ticket ... not connected to the subway system of the cities.

in some big cities like Berlin, Paris, ... you can use regional trains (owned by the rai companies of the countries: DBahn, SNCF, ...) which also travel in and arround the big cities.
