Hello and welcome.
It is an "easy" trip with a lot of kilometres. :)

1) Helsinki-Moscow:
Use the direct night train. Alexander just travelled it and wrote a blog post. Please read here for details: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/helsinki-moscow-nighttrain-tolstoi/[/ux]
The overnight train runs daily. Train tickets and schedules are available on [ux]https://rail.shop/realrussia[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/vr[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/rzd[/ux]

2) Moscow-Verona:
Once per week there is a direct night train from Moscow to Nice (France), which also stops in Verona (Italy).
Departure in Moscow is THURSDAY evening. The journey time to Moscow-Verona about 41 hours.
Train tickets are available on [ux]https://rail.shop/rzd[/ux]
To get an impression have a look at Flos blog post for the route Moscow to Paris, it is more or less similar than the route to Nice. Just the destination is different: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/night-train-paris-moscow/[/ux]

Enjoy your trip and just ask if you have more questions, Pete :)

Please also consider the current unclear visa regulations for travellers that are not citizens of Belarus or Russia and who want to travel by train from Russia through Belarus to Europe.
