I really have my heart set on visiting Estonia at some point in the next couple of years, but it dang well isnt included in any inter-rail pass. How do people recommend me getting there in the middle of an inter-rail trip, what are the best ways of getting there etc etc.

Estonia is not included in the interrail ticket but Estonian train fares are quite cheap. For example, travelling some 200 km from Tallinn to the second city Tartu costs around 8 euros. The are several ship companies operating between Helsinki and Tallinn, journey time varying between 2 and 4 hours depending on the size of the vessel. About the country itself, I strongly recommend spending several days exploring the old town in Tallinn.

this is as well my opinion ... take a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn ...
it is about 3 hours of travel and about 15-20 EUR one-way ... you get a discount with a student card.
use for example VikingLine: www.vikingline.fi
and train travel is cheap in the Baltic countries ... but there are often much better connections by bus ... and as well very cheap ... :)

Eckerö Lines is almost always the cheapest, especially if you just show up in the harbor. But do it in the right time: it only goes in the morning.
