Cheapest way: Barcelona - Paris

I'm planning on interrailing during the summer and I was wondering what is the cheapest way to get from Barcelona to Paris ?
I saw in another post that there is a night train but it also said that is was €46 for a sleeping seat and that was with your interrail pass ?
Is there anyway to avoid that additional cost ? Also is it necessary to book in advance for all night trains ?
