Hi,
I am desperately searching for any information about train travel in Hungary during Easter. I plan to arrive in Budapest via Vienna and return to Vienna and either of these may be during the bank holiday weekend. I understand Hungary celebrates Good Friday and Easter Monday? If anybody has any useful information about what changes to the services happen over Easter, and if there is no service running on a certain day, I would be extremely grateful. I have emailed the Hungarian National Rail service, and they have said they are not able to give any information about this.
Thanks
Ben

Hi Ben!

No need to worry, all international trains between Vienna and Budapest run daily throughout the year.
There are direct Railjet https://rail.cc/en/train-type/railjet-oebb/54 every two hours complemented with regular Eurocity trains resulting in direct trains almost every hour.
Schedule for 2020 is already online at ÖBB (Austrian Railways) schedule planner https://rail.shop/oebb - tickets can be booked via https://rail.shop/omio - however for the direction Budapest - Vienna cheaper tickets can be bought via MAV (Hungarian Railways) website https://rail.shop/mav (these need to be collected at a ticket machine in Hungary though!).

In about the whole of the continent where youve now cut the ties with its nothing special-not even Xmas or 1/1-the SUNs + HOLs timetables apply and for INTernational trains this usually means the same all year-its in fact even much more busy due to many people going on long weekendbreaks.
