On rail.cc interrail it says that I can travel directly between Bucharest and Sofia on the day train. However this route doesn\'t appear on the interrail planner app nor can I find train tickets for it online. Does anyone know if this route exists and if it is possible to do this route on the interrail global pass?

Hi and welcome to railcc!
There is one daily connection from Bucharest to Sofia. During the summer months this is a direct train; while during the rest of the year you have to change trains in Ruse, the Bulgarian border station [u]https://rail.cc/en/ruse/c[/u]

Online tickets/reservations are not available; if you have an Interrail pass you can of course use these trains, reservation is not compulsory as far as I know (but best option is to ask locally).
