I will be spending a week in Barcelona at the end of June and then spending a further week in Amsterdam, I have not yet worked out how I will get from Barcelona to Amsterdam despite already booking my flight home from Amsterdam, can anyone tell me the best train to get from Sants and how much I will have to pay?

The fastest way is Barcelona - Paris - Amsterdam. You can travel this within one day.
Barcelona - Paris by night train:

This is not the cheapest solution as you have to pay a supplement for the Thalys and the Elipsos if you want to travel FAST.
