Hi,

Me and my friends want to go to spain with interrail (10 days within 22 days global pass).
We live in northern germany, so we want to start in the netherlands, probably amsterdam.
From Amsterdam we want to go by night train to paris and from there directly to montpellier or Beziers.

Question: Does the first day of validity of the pass count as the first day of travel as well?

Otherwise we might use two days of travel to get to southern france,
or what is you experience?

Thanks in advance.
Niklas

hi Niklas... :)

there is no direct night train (one connection is via Germany with on change) to Paris with which you can avoid your country of residence (=Germany).

the best is to go down to Brussels by IC (no supplements) and then you have to decide if you want to continue by THALYS to Paris or by slower trains without supplement.
for details look here...

and for train schedules:

mmmh... and yes I think you need two days to southern France...

the first day your ticket is valid is not the first travel day... you are free and flexible... you have the period of XX days... and within this period you can chose your travel days... :)

have fun ... Peter :)
