Hello,
I have a question about buying a train ticket for a specific time and not being able to take the train at that time. Would I be able to access another train with my original ticket or should I buy another one? What is the best option for someone who is coming by flight?
Thank you for your service!
DD

Welcome to RailCC!

Time and train bound tickets can not be used for other trains, they are for a specific train.
For example, in a countries like Germany you\'ve many options.
ICE tickets normally sell with a train bound ticket, like called sparpreis. Full fare tickets are more expensive. Sparpreis can be as low as 30, full fare or Flex tickets (based on KM price) can be 120 euro. But with your 120 euro is it possible to travel on all ICE\'s.

Within regions or cities are special offers available like daytickets, or hour tickets. Bought at your station, or validated at your station of departure.

Conclusion, no, time (and thus train bound) tickets are for this one train only.
Missed the train? Only with a valid reason (the train was not running) it can be can be exchanged for a new train. Or you have to buy a new one.
Or take a reasonable transfer time, or take a flex ticket.

Maybe we can help you a little bit better with the information like where, when and which train ;)

Wouter.

Hi DD!

As mentioned before, if you have booked a ticket for a specific time and train you have to use this train and cannot take another train (except you miss a connection during your trip due to delay etc).
If you arrive at an airport and do not know which exact train to book you can either book a ticket for a specific time and plan with enough leeway so that you do not miss the train (but would have to spend a longer time at the airport if the plane is on time) or book a regular full fare ticket with which you can use any train.
Where are you arriving by plane and where do you want to go?
