New daytime train connection from Madrid to Lisbon
From August 29, 2017 a pair of regional trains will run once again via the Badajoz/Elvas border crossing. The timings are as follows:

These trains allow you to travel from Madrid to Lisbon and return during the day. The timings for this route are as follows:

When travelling with a rail pass (Interrail, Eurail) you need a reservation for all trains except Badajoz - Entroncamento. If you want to buy single tickets you can buy Madrid - Badajoz online from RENFE. Badajoz - Lisbon is not available online, but you could buy Elvas - Lisbon online and get the ticket across the border locally.
