Hi,

there are direct regional trains about every two hours from Orte to Florence. These terminate at Firenze SMN (Santa Maria Novella) in the city centre: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/florence/florence-santa-maria-novella-railway-station/l323[/ux]

You can simply buy tickets locally in Orte at the station without need to pre-book or reserve (no seat reservation possible, no advance fares available). The standard fare in 2nd class is 17,25€ per person. No 1st class available.
The trains take about three hours, departures from Orte are currently at 08:11, 09:42, 11:47, 13:47, 15:52,...

Alternatively there are Intercity trains running a few times each day which only stop at Firenze Rifredi which is a bit away from the city centre. However you can change here to a regional train to SMN station.
Tickets are either available locally in Orte, the full fare in 2nd class is 29,50€, in 1st class 38€. You can also buy tickets online in advance to get cheaper fares however you then have to use the booked train service.
Connections take about 2h40, departures from Orte are currently at 11:10, 13:14, 16;17
