We will be visiting San Sebastian this summer. We would like to travel by train to Bordeaux for an overnight stay, and then return the next day. Is train travel available from San Sebastian to Bordeaux? I have been able to locate the trains available from Hendaye to Bordeaux. However, the trains I have located from San Sebastian to Hendaye only provide two options, and neither would work for our departure from Hendaye, or the return to Hendaye the next day. If anyone can please help with a reasonable option to travel from San Sebastian to Bordeaux and back would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to railcc!

There are frequent suburban "Euskotren" services running from Hendaye via Irun to San Sebastian/Donostia and on to Bilbao. These are not included in Interrail but tickets are very cheap (about 1,50€ or so from Hendaye to Donostia).
Schedules for these trains are not included in regular schedule planners so you have to use the Euskotren website: [ux]http://www.euskotren.eus/es/viaja/horarios/tren[/ux]
The Euskotren station is in front of Hendaye SNCF station, just turn right and you will immediately see it.

There are also frequent "Cercanias" suburban services operated by Spanish Railways RENFE from Irun (the spanish border station) to Donostia but you would have to cross the border on foot to catch them - it makes much more sense to travel with Euskotren directly from Hendaye. Also I think that most Cercanias services are currently suspended due to construction works.
