Hi,
My teenage son and his friends want to travel to Europe at the end of school. They will be almost 18 but not quite.
Will they be able to travel on the trains in Europe?
Which countries will be a problem for them?

Hi Barry!
Travelling on trains wont be a problem however they will have to face age restrictions (18+ only) in certain hostels. Apart from that I dont see any troubles, several friends of mine travelled around Europe with InterRail at the ages of 16 and 17.
It could be practical if they would get a consent form signed by the parents in case there would be any troubles.

Hi Flo,
Thanks for the quick reply. They have some friends they can stay with plus family in few places so finding hostels that will take them will be part of the trip jigsaw puzzle :D

as you post on EUrail, you are likely from out of the EU. The MAJOR prob may be in boarding that airplane to get here-these may have much more severe restrictions, as parental consent is needed for that in writing. There may be forms to use. Children travelling alone on trains happens everyday by the millions here in Eur-but most go only to school or visit grandad (I could when I was 9).
