Hi!

I am trying to found a train connection Vilnius - Grodna, but [ux]https://plan.rail.cc[/ux] only wants to send me via Molodechno or Kaunas. In our Bradt Guide to Belarus, there is clearly a train track going straight towards Vilnius.

rail.shop/lit doesn't find any connection to Grodna at all.

How can I find out if there really is a direct track between those cities or not? Or maybe some reason you can't go across the border there even if there is a track?

The main point is that we are in Vilnius for some time and would like to go for a day or two to Belarus. Other suggestions on where to go welcome. We where thinking Minsk might be to big to be charming?

The Uzberezj (BY) - Senove (LT) border crossing one the Grodna - Vilnius line, being part of the old Warzaw - Saint Petersburg line has been closed since 2004; you could check if trains still run via the Salcininkai - Bieniakoie border crossing, then travelling to Grodna via Lida and Mosty.
Havent been to Belarus yet, so cant give you any tips. Anyway, dont you need a Visa to go there? I do, and it seems a bit of a hassle to get one just for a short visit?
