hey, i'm trying to travel from venice to nice on 09/07/12 however am having trouble with the trains as one of the lines seems to be shut. it seems to normally take approx 8 hours and now it is taking more than 30 hours. can any one help me with an alternative route or just why this train doesn't seem to be running anymore.

Hi,
this is a common problem: On the second sunday of June there is a timetable change throughout most of Europe. Usually train timings do not change a lot on this date (the major timetable change is on second sunday of December), however minor alterations can occur.
The reason why you get such long journey times for that route is that the database of the online schedule planner has not been updated yet with the timings for the summer period. Just check the timings for a date prior to 10th June and you should get the usual route via Milano - Genova - Ventimiglia which lasts ~8 hours.
