HI,

I want to travel from Skopje, Macedonia to Istanbul, Turkey. Is there a Eurail route available? What does it cost?

Any other options to travel?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to railcc!

There is a direct night train from Sofia to Istanbul: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/[/ux]
To get to Sofia from Skopje it is best to get a direct bus (not included in Eurail); by train you would have to go to Nis in Serbia first which will take much too long time.

Thanks for replying !

Okay so I take this suggested route.. What is the cost of the night train from Sophia to Istanbul ? And then Istanbul to Sophia ?

Also .. Will you have in mind an Approximate bus fare from Skopje to Sophia ?

Does the night train stop anywhere ? And how long is the journey in the night train from Sophia to Istanbul ?

Waiting for your reply,
Thanks a lot

You will find all information about reservation prices and the timetable of the night train in the blog post I linked: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/[/ux]

You can book the Skopje - Sofia bus for 16€ here: [ux]https://rail.shop/busticket4me[/ux]

Hi,

Can anybody help me out with the following route?

Skopje to Greece via Eurorail takes how many hours? After one night stay in Greece I want to go to Turkey .. is it plausible to go from Greece to Turkey via interrail? How long will it take?

Please respond soon,

Thanks

From Skopje to Thessaloniki the only train is the night train: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-night-train/belgrade-thessaloniki-b335/416[/ux] More information about the journey from Belgrade via Skopje to Thessaloniki in the blog: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/belgrade-skopje-thessaloniki-train/[/ux]

From Greece there are no trains to Turkey at the moment.
You can go from Thessaloniki to Sofia: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/from-thessaloniki-to-sofia-by-train/[/ux] and then take the night train from Sofia to Istanbul: [ux]https://rail.cc/blog/bucharest-sofia-istanbul-train/[/ux]
Alternatively you can take a direct bus from Thessaloniki to Istanbul: [ux]https://rail.shop/metroturizm[/ux]
Another alternative would be to take a train from Thessaloniki via Alexandroupoli to "Kastanee" and cross the border on foot to get to Edirne; from Edirne there are two trains to Istanbul. However I would not recommend this option if you are not an experiened traveller looking for getting into other countries via obscure border crossings; you would have to check if the border crossing is currently open and if you can cross it on foot (or would have to hitchhike); also note that the way into the city centre of Edirne is quite long - check with a online map.

Also, please make sure you understand the differences between Eurail (= for non-European residents) and Interrail (= for European residents):
- [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail[/ux]
- [ux]https://rail.cc/en/eurail[/ux]
There is no "Eurorail".
