Hi,
Travel itinenary so far: Prague-?-Berlin-?-Amsterdam, anyone have tips or comments to the following? (I am travelling with my girlfriend, 4mts pregnant)

I have booked flights to Prague on a sunday (Day 1) arriving around 10 in the morning and back from Amsterdam leaving late at night.
Have booked two nights in Prague so far. Last time I was there I found it so overcrowded, especially over the Karluv most/Charles Bridge and the tourist area. Still it is beautiful and there is a lot to see. The bridge is just an ordinary bridge! :D
This time I want to do a day trip to Karlstejn or Kutna Hora on the monday (Day2), depending on the weather.

The next day (Day 3) I'm considering heading towards Berlin, getting off at Kurort Rathen station to see the Bastei of Saxon Switzerland. Perhaps we have some time in Dresden too..
I have been to Berlin several times before, and like it a lot. My girlfriend has not been there before.
On Day 4 we are considering Potsdam and the standard Berlin sights; Brandenburger Tor, Bundestag, Berlin Wall memorial..

Day 5 I don't know yet. Maybe staying a third night in Berlin.
Day 6: Maybe staying one night somewhere on the way to Amsterdam, or looking for something to see on the way.. The dream would be going on the Harz railway between Wernigerode and Nordhausen but I guess that takes too long time..

Day 7: Amsterdam?

Day 8: Amsterdam?

Day 9. Flying home from Amsterdam

Hi!

Sound like a nice plan to me! :)
...we've been to Prague in January which was really pretty and much less crowded than during summer.

Did you see the blog post about the Berlin - Prague route? I always wanted to stop at Königstein but didnt manage yet. https://rail.cc/blog/berlin-prague-train/

Karlstejn/Kutna Hora are certainly also worth the trip too :)

Regarding the trip to HSB...if you leave Berlin for Nordhausen on day 5 in the afternoon you should have enough time for a trip the following day and then go to Amsterdam in the afternoon? Or stay two nights in the area?

I read the post in full now. It is really good information, thanks a lot!

We are considering a night at a penzion in Děčín just before the border before checking the Saxon Switzerland out the next day on the way to Berlin. I'm guessing there is no luggage lockers on the station Kurort Rathen and we have to hike to the Bastei area with our backpacks? :S

Dresden is really interesting, a blend of ancient buildings and the concrete of the GDR(DDR) days and definately worth a stop.
I walked to Königstein a couple of years ago, it was really nice views of the river and the scenery. Also an interesting lift to the former army base that is there. Used to be a prison during WW2 :) The weather was not so nice, however.

I really like the small towns and countryside of Europe, but sadly we visit it too little.

I dont thinkt that there are lockers at Kurort Rathen, but maybe you can leave your luggage at the local tourist information?

Another option could be to leave the luggage at the Penzion in Decin, at least if the train schedules would allow for that - but you'd probably lose to much time I guess?

late update:
In Bad Schandau, the tourist information was really helpful and let us store our luggage as we headed to the Bastei area for a couple of hours.
