I am trying to use the web ticket but can't select a seat on the train, though I can select different cars. I've used IE, Firefox, and Chrome and none of them work. Basically I just want to know ticket prices--anyone familiar with these?

Hello,
I have tried to book a train from Kalambaka to Athens using the OSE website, and the message ''This train does not support seat reservations. You can buy a ticket for this train if and only if you have at least one seat reservation at some other part of your journey.'' appears once I've chosen my train that I wish to take. Does that mean that I can't take this train or that seat reservations aren't allowed with this train?

Thanks a bunch!

Hi!

I assume you want to book the connection at either 0542 or 0819 from Kalambaka? These require a change of trains in Palaeofarsalos. The train threre from Kalambaka is a regional train where no reservation is possible - this is also what the text at the OSE website wants to tell you.
On the screen where the message appears, select the other train on the left (train 51 or 55), then you can select your seat on this IC train and continue with your booking.

It'd be great to hear from your experience on the Greek network, information from down there is always very sparse... :)

Hello, I'm trying to buy the train tickets from Athens to Kalambaka on the OSE webpage ([ux]https://rail.shop/ose[/ux]), but when I'm going to pay them, it appears a message, which is:
This train does not support seat reservations. You can buy a ticket for this train if and only if you have at least one seat reservation at some other part of your journey
I've tried already to change the train's number and I did all the possible combinations, but the message still appearing. So what can I do to buy the tickets?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Nerkon.

Hi Nerkon.
What date and what time you selected?
Maybe the problem is, that you did not selected a DIRECT train, but one with a change?! And it is only possible to buy and make reservations for DIRECT trains online - all others only offline at stations?
This might be the problem.
Pete :)

Pete Thanks for the quick response.
Trip data are:
Forward Trip: 03/11/2015. Athens-Kalambaka Direct 884 (DES) 8:27 to 13:18
Return Trip: 05/11/2015. Kalambaka-Athens. Direct 885 (DES) 17:32 to 22:12

Anyway, I tried to do it with all the other indirect options, but didn't work. The same message appears.
This train does not support seat reservations. You can buy a ticket for This Train if and only if You have AT LEAST one seat reservation at some other part of your journey
There is another message saying Offer seats on the right side of the screen, but I don't know how it works.

Thanks for your help!
:D

Hi.
The reason is: your booking is too far away in future. If you use the little calendar at the top, it shows how far away in future you can book. Max future booking date is the 30 September 2015.
If you fill in the date manually, like for example 03 November 2015, the system is not able to show you the seats in the wagons to reserve.
Pete :)

You can also buy the tickets locally which will be no problem - they will be slightly more expensive but still quite cheap. Note that you may have to change trains en route in Larissa even though it is advertised as a direct train.
