Train reservation Ljubljana - Sarajevo.

Hello,

I was at the train station in Ljubljana earlier trying to make a reservation for the night train from Zagreb to Sarajevo and ordinary seat reservation from Ljubljana to Zagreb. She refused to make any reservation to Zagreb and said it wasn´t possible, but DB BAHN tells me to please make a reservation for this train. She also told me that there are no sleepercars or couchettes on the nighttrain from Zagreb. Is this true? Or is it only possibly to make the reservation for those in Zagreb? I will probably go and try to make a reservation again later tonight though, but do any of you have any experience with this?

Hi Lars!

- I just checked my documents and the night train (n° 399) does indeed only have 2nd class coaches - no couchettes or sleeping cars. Reservations may be possible only directly at Zagreb glavni kolodvor (main station).
- For Ljubljana - Zagreb reservations should be possible - I dont know why she refused to give you a reservation. But from a look at the timetables directly at the website of SZ a reservation wouldnt be neccessary anyway.

Oh alright.. I was going to do the exact same in my inter rail trip next week i.e. book the zagreb-sarajevo night train at Ljubljana. So now i'll book at Zagreb.. do you think making a reservation on the day will be ok for this train? I'm assuming everyone travelling on this night train will have to make reservation at Zagreb only.. or are other countries able to make this reservation?

One last question.. how much is it? the reservation?

Night train is about EUR 10-12 for a couchette.
And I am sure you will get a bed in it without a problem.
