Just took this overnight train. I forgot to ask for the Sparshein (discounted) rate. Here's what I got:
Fare is 60 Euros for each person on 2-bed cabin. 2-bed cabin rate is 40 Euros. Total = 160 Euros.

The conductor got our tickets which concerned me. He did not even give a receipt. I guess that's how they operate.

It's common practice on night trains that the conductor keeps the tickets and reservations overnight. On international journeys often also the passport so that you dont have to get up in the middle of the night at the border.

Hello :D
I'm planning to get this train on the 2nd of June with 3 others (all with interrail passes), and was wondering what the best way of reserving tickets is??
Online or over the phone seems a little difficult but we would only be able to get to the station the day before to reserve tickets in Krakow (as were only there for a short time). I'm not sure how busy the train will be, or how risky leaving it untill the day before is :| Any advice you could give us would be helpful.
Thankyou
Helen

Hi Helen,

buy the reservations at a station. It does not neccesarily have to by at Krakow station, if you are travelling before reaching Krakow you can make the reservations at other larger stations too. You dont need a reservation for regular 2nd class seats anyway, so you could enter the train without a reservation too. Only for couchette/sleeper reservations are required. However, as you are a party of four I would recommend a seat reservation to be sure that all four of you are seated in the same compartment.
I cant tell for certain if it is enough to make these reservations the day before but I think the train wont be full on a Thursday. So relax and enjoy. :)

Sorry for asking the same questions again, but this is my first time interrailing and just to confirm: would the 2 bed compartment only be located in first class?

And, as I am visiting Berlin earlier on the trip, would I be able to reserve the 2 bed compartment on the Krakow-Prague train, from Berlin train station several days before? Is there a risk of the train having no compartments left if I leave it too late to book?

Thank you for your patience. :)

yes-usually for a sleep in a bed in a 2bedcabin you need a 1st=FIRST cl. ticket. That means an very big sum extra to what you have. And if someone else has the same idea-you still share the cabin as a single person.
A normal 2nd cl. ticket/card allows you to book yourself into a 3-bed cabin (same-sex-sharing) or a couchette.
Noone can tell if there are spaces left-most times yes, but it is always possible a group turns up or has reserved all. and yes, these reservations van be done at ANY international ticket window in whatever country attached to the general european bookingsystem. This includes ANY main german station.

I plan to take night train from auschwitz to pragua on 24 aug, so I should buy krakow-pragua night train with same fare eventhough I will take train at auschwitz n the distance is shorter, right? I'll be at Frankfurt 2days earlier, can I buy ticket at Frankfurt central?

Hi.
Krakow and Auschwitz station are close. It is the same fee for Rail pass travellers.
You can buy it in Frankfurt main station. More information at your other post:

Hi I'm new to this forum and inter railing.

I'm planning to start my trip in Krakow at the beginning of September. Would two days notice be enough time to ensure I can reserve a ticket at the station to get to Prague on the night train as I assume the trains will be quieter after the end of august.

Thanks for any replies.

Hi.
You can never get a general preview. If you avoid travelling Friday or Sunday evening, then it should be fine in general.

Hi fellow travellers,
I'm quite confused with the night train timings from Krakow to Prague on 29 May.

Checked [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] and it says there is a direct night train, 2201 - 0736.
When i tried to book on the Polish intercity website, they don't have this option. The only night train is from 2201 - 0644, with a change in between at Bohumin.

This is the first time i'm taking a train in Europe and I'm not sure how the train transfers work. Even if i booked a sleeping couchette, if there is a change, i need to get up and go to a new train?

Is there any where I can book the direct night train online? Or do I have to buy it from the station? I'm afraid if i buy it from the station, there may be no seats. I reach Krakow on 26 May and have to catch my flight out from Prague on 30 May.

Any advice?
thank you very much!!

Hi!

:arr: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/night-train/krakow-prague-en-402/149

The train timings are 2201 - 0736. The direct train is shown on PKP website also. The connection with arrival in Praha is shown as well since it is faster, but it would require a change of trains in the middle of the night in Bohumin - much more comfortable to use the direct train. ;)
You can try to get a reservation online at :arr: [ux]https://rail.shop/acprail/reservation[/ux] but I would recommend to get it at a station where it will be cheaper (the online reservation via the shop require extra handling fees).

Hi!

I'm planning on taking this night train on September 14, 2016. However, according to both the websites of Deutsche Bahn and Interrail, there is no direct night train connecting Kraków and Prague as of September 4, 2016.
Interrail's Rail Planner App suggests taking a night train to Zebrzydowice (which would be end-of-the-line, apparently) and there I'd have to change to the Warsaw-Prague night train.
On the other hand, intercity.pl states that there is in fact a direct night train on this date (TLK402, arriving around 06:38), but it's the only website I found so far that confirms the existence of this train ...

Does anyone know whether there will be a direct night train on this date? Thanks in advance!

Hi Tim,

the Krakow - Prague night train runs daily. The reason why it is not shown correctly/with a change in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere probably is due to the timetable database not being upgraded correctly - the arrival time in Prague will be 0705 from 3. September.
You can find the night train for instance at the website of Czech Railways at [ux]https://rail.shop/cd/[/ux]

We are official partners of interrail.eu - to support the free information and the forum on railcc, please be fair and buy your official Interrail pass via our railcc partner link: [ux]https://rail.shop/interrail[/ux]
Thank you! :)

Hi Flo,

Thanks for the fast confirmation. Unfortunately (oh well, unfortunately ... ;) ) I've already got my pass, but I'll certainly recommend railcc with my friends and tell to them to support this site. Keep up the good work! :D
