Hey there,

I just wanted to ask if anyone of you has been to Ireland in the last 5 years and can tell me if hitchhiking is still a good way to get through Ireland.
We won't do interrail there because the train-map is really disgusting but we will go there for two weeks. without a car. The buses are very unregular. So it would be great to know if hitch-hiking is still a good possibility in Ireland because I wouldn't do it in Germany. But perhaps in Ireland.

Thanks :)

I wouldn't it advise it, simply because over the last few years Irish drivers have become very reluctant to pick up hitchhikers.

The train map is a disaster, thats true. But the buses?? They arent that bad - over the last month Ive been on more Irish buses than my whole life due to work and found them to be quite punctual. I stuck to main routes I suppose.

Either way book online to get discounts!

Ok.. it seems to have changed.. So we will rely on the buses.

We want to go to west Ireland and I think in summer there will be more buses than are scheduled at the moment on the internet because we will go to some places where we want to hike and without a bus i think it would be a bit bad to know that you have to walk the 23 kilometers with the whole luggage or you will have to sleep rough..
