I am going to be an american tourist soon and I wanted to use the Eurail to travel and I have a few questions about the rail. Is there anything particular I should pack? In which countries do trains tend to be crowded? Is sleeping on the train safe? Which special advice can you find about popular cities like Rome or Paris? thanks y\'all for answer ma questions.

Hi!

Most questions should be answered here: [ux]https://rail.cc/en/interrail-help-basic-questions/f14382[/ux]

Regarding spending the day in cities such as Rome or Paris:
- try local food and drinks from small bakeries, stores etc... (dont go to McDonalds, instead try Quick if you want fast food; try Orangina or San Benedetto Ice Tea etc...)
- walk around the city without any plans; take a turn whenever you spot something interesting
- try to avoid the most popular touristy areas (eg dont buy anything there since prices tend to be inflated)
- dont be a target for pickpockets; keep your important belongings close to your body and if possible in internal compartments of your bag; dont go through items in your bag in the middle of large crowds. You dont have to worry about pickpockets as long as you show a basic degree of carefullness.
- tourist tickets often offer good value only if you do a lot of museums etc; personally I prefer to walk through the city instead of doing lots of museums and attractions

In Rome and Paris it is nice to see the attractions. In Rome for example the Vatican City as an Mystic athmosphere or the Collosseum is really nice, but there are too many tourist. In 2017 on a sunny wednesday I saw thousand of people this places. And also the very, very long queues. So when you like to travel? In my opinion the summer is an no-go. Hole Europe has summer-holidays and the US also. The best time is the autuum or spring to visit these City\'s without stress. That\'s the same for Berlin, Vienna, Paris and London.
