Looking at accommodation prices I have to say Mulhouse offers the best price. It is for me and my two children. We want to do days out to Basle, Colmar, Strasbourg and Frieburg. Is there an area train pass? If not how much are the train tickets likely to cost? Thanks.

Thanks Flo. I wouldn't have found these details on my own. I am English speaking and I learned French for 5 years. I managed to Google Translate the German.

Basically IN that Alsace area there are 2 types of daytickets (also for the family): 1 or both dpartements. With 1 you can go to Basel and Colmar, Strsbg needs 2. These are TRansport daytickets and thus ALSO valid on local trams/buses etc. The trains run at least hourly and often more. This is quite unique in FR.
As Frbg is in germany, but there is a small local railline reopened a year or 2 ago and there are also special deals for that-in several versions, with/out local transport. In Alsace/Elzass many locals also speak german.
