How to buy an Interrail or Eurail RESERVATION:

Information Interrail pass: https://rail.cc/en/interrail
Information Eurail pass: https://rail.cc/en/eurail

You can buy a reservation online as long as either the DEPARTURE or ARRIVAL STATION is in GERMANY.

How to do (for the English version of the website):
1) Visit this website of the Deutsch Bahn: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]
2) Fill in the journey you want to travel, the date and time.
3) Press -> search
4) You will see a list of trains - select the one (has to be a direct train) marked as CNL (=CityNightLine) check availability
5) Sometimes the system asks then for your age - it is not important for the reservation, but fill it in - there is also an extra field. Keep it with no reduction. Press refresh and do it again like at step (4).
6) Now you see the list of the different types of seats, couchettes and beds you can book. But still at the normal high fares. Select the button at the bottom beside the red one called Book only extra charge
7) On the next page select Pass offer (InterRail, Eurail, other pass offer) and then -> Continue
8) Select the type of seat/bed you want and press Book selected offer

On the next steps you have to fill in your personal data and make the payment.

Hello. In May, 2014 moving by train across Germany are planned. Specifically the trip to CNL on a route Dresden-Offenburg interests. Why on a site BH I can't buy 6 tickets? Offer only 5. But us 6 people and to us are necessary to a compartment entirely.

Hi!

What do you mean by BH?

CNL connections can only be booked 180 days in advance or earlier so you have to wait a little to book for a connection in May 2014.

If you use [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] it should not be a problem to book a couchette cabin for six people.

Hi.
Like Flow said, use [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux] without a problem. railcc is official partner of Deutsche Bahn. :)

Hi João.
Thank you for supporting with your purchase. I now set your profile to PLUS. :)
Please read the information at the bottom of the page bellow the map (Night train + CNL) here: https://rail.cc/en/night-train/prague-amsterdam-cnl456/14
It should guide you to your reservation.
Peter :)

If I want my two kids to share bed on night train, can I then buy tickets only for the child who is paying (8 years) and let the 4-yearold just go along? The system does not allow me to book other than 4-berth cabins otherwise?

What do I need to do to be able to get europa spezial-preise?

We are travelling from Copenhagen to Basel on the 30th of june. Not using the interrailpasses on this but instead paying the tickets.

Hej...yeah, you would only have to add your older child as a traveller in the booking process (who has to pay only the reservation fee), your younger child can travel for free when not using an own bed.

To get Europa Spezial fares you would have to enter Basel Bad Bf as destination, this is the DB station of Basel and border point (Europa Spezial fares are only available from abroad to Germany or vice versa), Basel SBB would be the Swiss station.
From Copenhagen to Basel SBB another special fare, called SparNight would be available, you have to check what would be cheaper.

Sadly though, the sleeper seems to be fully booked on 30 June... :(
So you should add your younger child in order to be able to book a whole 4bed couchette compartment for your family.

is it normal that it is fully booked this long in advance? Or is there something wrong with the booking system? All sleepers as long as the booking is open seems to be marked with red x-es?

Well...I dont know really. For instance, there would be a 3bed cabin available on the following day, 1 July. Also one week earlier on 23 June...just two random dates I checked.

The general issue with this train is that CNL will use just one Comfortline sleeper on this service instead of one Doubledeck sleeper as of now and two Doubledeck sleepers until end of March...which is about only half the original capacity.

No-this is not normal, but sometimes travel-agents book large groups-and they always do that long time advance-for obvious reasons. Also: as there are so many different classes/types and the train ex CPH has portions for many more end-stops, to CH is just 3 cars or so (1 sitting) and thus there is a very limited nr of specific bed-types. As you found out already, check the other options.
Also: actually it is, officially, only allowed to take 1 child with parent in 1 bed, not 2. I have no idea how strict they stick to that. As you may also know, sometimes there are bizarre safety regulations for that.

we ended up booking a 4-berth couchette, I guess it is not that big of a difference, we heard that there is no electrical sockets in couchette, which will perhaps be a problem when charging phones and ipads :D And of course a breakfast box would have been nice, but we will manage :)

OK. Well, there are couchettes that have sockets and others without (the majority does not have them). If you want to, you can buy breakfast at the car attendant (either just coffee with a muffin or the full breakfast box). An advantage of the couchette will be that you will have much more space compared to the sleeper compartment.

Hello everyone,

I hope it's correct to continue on this message thread.

My question is that I would like to reward myself a trip in a single deluxe bed on a CNL train, on one of those double deck sleepers.
However, I heard that those deluxe double deck cars are no longer used for CNL trains since last year :(

Can anybody from Germany (or who just knows) if this is true?
If yes, is there any other night train with similar services?

Thanks/grazie

I am not from Germany (luckily :D ) but I can confirm that. :|

Double deck sleepers of the same type are still used by ÖBB on its Wien - Hamburg https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-hamburg-en-490/5 and Wien - Zürich https://rail.cc/en/night-train/vienna-zurich-en-466/64 trains. :)
