Hey all,
I have been researchig the possible means of transportation from Budapest to Split and it appears that the direct night train only runs on Tuesdays and Sundays. I'm scheduled to leave Budapest on the Thursday, the 4th of August so what would be the quickest means of getting to Split? Would I have to take the leg to Zagreb and then continue on to Split? Thanks in advance.

Hi Alex!
If you are travelling on a day when the night train is not running, you have to take the day train (leaving Budapest in the afternoon) to Zagreb, then the night train to Split.

Ok, and both legs of the journey from Budapest to Split, you must pay for apart from the Eurail pass, correct? Thanks.

Well, if your Eurail pass covers Hungary and Croatia, you dont have to pay extra. Seat reservation is compulsory on the direct night train Budapest - Split and the day trains Zagreb - Split.

Yes, I have the global pass so should be good there. The only trains I have found on-line don't connect directly from Budapest to Zagreb to Split? Is it usually almost a 24-hour trip? I'm traveling August 4th and any help would be great. :)

b)
Budapest 1445 - 2046 Zagreb > part of the trip by replacement bus
Zagreb 2305 - 0654 Split

Ok, thanks a bunch for your help! So, for option b, the second train leaves on the 5th and arrives at 0654 on the 6th right? I guess the one from 1445 to 1338, the next day, is the only way to do it? Thanks.
