There will be 4 maybe 6 of us getting off a Uniworld river cruise from Bucharest to Budapest in early May 2019. We are thinking of traveling to Berlin for a few days. We would like a nice comfortable first class train trip to Berlin .
We would get off the ship by 9:00 am and have transportation to the train station.
Then what train do you suggest? Usually a weekend Saturday more than likely
We are all in our late 60 but we love to travel .
Thank you for any help you can give us ????

Sure you can get a nice and comfortable train on this route, but please be advised that a direct journey is approximately 11 hours. Right now the night train are cancelled, but maybe it will be back in 2019, mm maybe Pete or Flo have more information regarding this?
If going by night it is also very nice in 2nd class, but buy a sleeper then.
If going by day train (as with the current schedule) the only direct train leave before 9am, but you can do it with just 1 change at 09:55 and 11:55, but you will be rather late in Berlin. Consider to take a stopover in Munich... Both trains have nice 1st class compartments.

Enjoy you journey

Hi and welcome to railcc!

You can book tickets for the whole route from Budapest to Berlin simply online on the website of German Railways DB: [ux]https://rail.shop/bahn[/ux]

There are attractive deals available for travel both via Austria (Vienna) and Slovakia (Bratislava) - Czech Republic (Prague).
I would recommend to plan your trip with an intermediate stop, for instance in one of the above mentionend cities.

1st class travel offers a comfortable journey and you will find restaurant cars on virtually all connections.

If you need more detailed help planning your route please just ask. :)
