I will start my interrail on the middle of august and I have booked about 80% of the total hostels i'm going to stay. I recommend you to do so specialy in big towns or well-known tourism places.

For big cities it is good to book in advance ... not too much (because you route then will be very fix and you can no more be spontaneous). But it is really helpful:

- you get cheap offers at [ux]https://rail.shop/hostelworld[/ux] or [ux]https://rail.shop/bookingcom[/ux]

- it is more relaxing, just arriving in a town, and not to be stressed with finding a hostel.

- you are safe and sure that you have a bed.

But you can also travel without booking in advance. this is a little bit more adventure. Then go to a tourist office in the town and ask for hostels. it is more work. :)

If you are a member of HI (hosteling international) you get alot of discounts and also a book with hostels worldwide.. It is real helpfull.. We always just called the day before we came to the place to reserve two beds... I worked everytime...
